Travelling:
Trevi - San Giacomo - Spoleto - Firenzuola - Acquasparta - Montecastrilli - Cappuccini - Amelia - Alviano - Graffignano - Bagnoregio - Orvieto - Bagni - Parrano - San Venanzo - Marsciano - Gualdo Cattaneo - Bastardo - Trevi ..........

No, we didn't see Spoleto; it's far too big, and the suburbs in its approaches were most offputting.

We had some lovely driving after that, though; Acquasparta was quite interesting, and we traversed many roads that were surrounded by peace and beauty. At a little jewel of a town called Alviano we were confused by being unable to get *out* once we had got in ... Pause, regroup: we went out the way we'd come in, thinking we must have misunderstood the map. But then we saw a monstrous camion pass us and enter it, so we had another go; and sure enough, CS found the continuing road (though we never saw that truck again !); but only *after* finding himself at a total dead end on a one-way and VERY NARROW street, from which he was obliged to reverse, at length !, in order to ... ah ...escape.
Past Bagnoregio (there are some strange cliff-dwellings somewhere nearby, but I can't remember *where* !); past Orvieto, stopping to take a shot of it from an angle we think a bit unusual; and on up/down over another seemingly endless mountain road, to end up absolutely  (and argumentatively) lost leaving Marsciano ... When we eventually got back onto a road we'd travelled before; I was hugely relieved ! ... until the realisation dawned that *we'd have to go through Bastardo again* !!! -- the word 'eponymous' raised its tired head ...

On the Thursday we navigated to our next stopover thus: Trevi / Bettona / San Martino in Colle / Capanne / Panicale / Paciano / Chiusi / Montepulciano / Montalcino -- driving through some really lovely Umbrian landscapes.

Panicale turned out to be a most delightful town, in which I would be happy to spend more time and CS has decided he wants to live there ... what's more, I'd go along with that ! We lunched at an excellent ristorante -- «Lillo Tatini», Piazza Umberto I -- that served a really nice local pasta with a name like brenelle and a fish sugo
